The Mission

  1. Help people with highly sensitive physiology (HSP) develop community and connection, both online and very importantly, offline, face to face relationships. (i.e., friendships, parent to parent, dating, couples with one or both partners having HSP).
  2. Raise awareness of highly sensitive physiology (HSP) and educate people about the subject.
  3. Help people with highly sensitive physiology successfully address health challenges (physical, mental, and emotional) that are inherent to this type of physiology.
  4. Produce educational and developmental resources for children, adolescents, and parents with highly sensitive physiology.

Power & Intimacy

Nature erupts with power and grandeur. It also glistens and shimmers with delicacy and intimate beauty. Both powerful and gentle. This is the world we live in, and these are qualities and potentials that reside within each of us.

At the human scale, some of us have bodies designed by evolution to be bold and to rush ahead, while others are designed to be more careful, more aware and attentive, and to think more carefully before acting. And of course we all may have a mixture of these qualities. Over vast, evolutionary time, nature has determined that both approaches are beneficial to the survival of many species.

Of these two approaches, the purpose of the latter, termed “high sensitivity” or “highly sensitive physiology” is the lesser known, and resides largely in shadow in modern culture and society.

That is changing now.

Highly Sensitive Physiology

Making up somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 of the general population, people with highly sensitive physiology have a sometimes quiet, inner power. We have a nervous system that has been selected by evolution to pay attention to subtle details, to care about others, and to deeply process situations and relationships. This processing involves taking in and integrating increased amounts of sensory input from both internal and external cues.

If one has a body designed this way, simply knowing about the design and its purpose is life changing.

Many Names

High sensitivity, the highly sensitive person, HSP, introvert, empath, certain MBTI types, and gifted individuals. All these names refer to the presence of highly sensitive physiology, that is, subtle modifications to the body’s structure and function which result in heightened awareness.

Well nourished people with this physiology make strong leaders because of their ability to take in and integrate large amounts of input. This ability comes with costs however. It’s not free. It is, in fact, very valuable.
